Technical Director

LOCATION: Pittsfield, MA / Stockbridge, MA
COMPENSATION: $1,100-$1,200/week, commensurate with experience. Housing is provided.
STATUS: Full-time, Seasonal, May – September

Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) is accepting resumes for a Technical Director between the period of May – September. This position works closely with designers to draft, create, construct, install and strike all scenic elements across all three BTG stages: The Colonial Theatre (760 seats), The Playhouse (300 seats) & The Unicorn Theatre (122 seats).

Responsibilities Include:
  • Work collaboratively with Director of Productions in planning and drafting productions for all BTG produced shows.
  • Create cost estimates for each production prior to the building.
  • Addressing maintenance and repairs of scenic elements during production show runs.
  • Supervision of scenic staff in building, loading-in, maintaining and loading-out all scenic elements for all BTG productions; including but not limited to the safe operation of stage systems, and the supervision of all staff and volunteers in the safe use of rigging, electrics, soft goods, stage hardware, ladders and other scenic tools and equipment.
  • Act as a technical crew member as needed.
  • Supervise overhire crews as needed to support BTG Events.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • Shop leadership, drafting, shop tool usage, maintenance and safety.
  • Knowledge of Auto-CAD and/or Vectorworks.
  • Ability to drive a box truck up to 26’.

Assistant Technical Director

LOCATION: Pittsfield, MA / Stockbridge, MA

Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) is accepting resumes for an Assistant Technical Director between the period of May – August.   • Assisting with purchasing of supplies for the same.
  • Assisting with drafting of construction drawings for all BTG productions.
  • Constructing scenery for all BTG productions.
  • Loading in and striking of all BTG productions.
  • Attending production meetings and technical rehearsals when assigned.
  • Carrying out related tasks as assigned to you by the Technical Director.
  • Addressing maintenance and repairs of scenic elements during production show runs
  • Supervision of scenic staff in building, loading-in, maintaining and loading-out all scenic elements for all BTG productions; including but not limited to the safe operation of stage systems, and the supervision of all staff and volunteers in the safe use of rigging, electrics, soft goods, stage hardware, ladders and other scenic tools and equipment.
  • Act as a technical crew member as needed.
  • Maintain technical equipment and inventory; research/purchase any needed equipment.
  • Provide support to presented, produced and rental events on all stages.

Ticket Office Associate

LOCATION: Pittsfield, MA / Stockbridge, MA
COMPENSATION: $17/hour, approximately 15-30 hours per week
STATUS: Year Round OR Seasonal opportunities available;
Hourly; start date effective immediately
WORK HOURS: Tuesday through Sunday; 11:45am – 8:00pm, based on schedule; most shifts are (5) hours in length and some nights & weekends are required

Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) is seeking a Ticket Office Associate to join our team and work closely with our Ticketing Manager & Patron Services team. This position is responsible for providing customer service to patrons both in-person and over the phone and will be scheduled at one of our two locations (Pittsfield, MA or Stockbridge, MA). Ideal candidates will have at least one year of relevant customer service and payment processing experience.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Complete training for Spektrix ticketing system
  • Stay up-to-date with new resources from Spektrix, event pricing information, promotional codes and special offerings from BTG.
  • Provide excellent customer service while answering phones, processing ticket sales using Spektrix, and interacting with patrons both in-person and over the phone
  • Assist patrons with seat selection, performance selection and recommendations on future attendance
  • Provide patrons with knowledge of Berkshire Theatre Group
  • Update patron information in ticketing system
  • Reconcile sales (and other forms of income) consisting of cash, credit cards and checks at close of business day
  • Attend rehearsal run-throughs of upcoming performances as available
  • Coordinate third-party ticket sales (e.g. Half-Tix Program, Ticket Exchange Program)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Experience with payment processing (cash and credit card transactions)
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfort with MAC or PC computers
  • Comfort with Google Suite (GMail, Calendar, Google Drive)
  • Reliable transportation
  • One year of prior experience in a customer service related field

Seasonal

Berkshire Theatre Group, will celebrate its 96th year as a professional theatre in Western MA in 2024 and is accepting resumes for our administrative & production teams for our 2024 season. Summer season runs from mid May until late August. Employment dates range from mid-May through early-September, and weekly salary varies based on position.
