Save the Playhouse

The Playhouse is turning 100!

Help us make it extraordinary.

In 2028, the Berkshire Playhouse celebrates a century on this site — and we’re not letting that moment pass without doing something worthy of it. We’re restoring and reimagining one of the most storied stages in American theatre, and we want you to be part of it.

THE STORY SO FAR

The Playhouse Now
Nearly 100 years ago, the Stockbridge Casino was pulled by horses through the streets and set down on the site where it still stands today. What followed was a century of extraordinary theatre. Katharine Hepburn trained here. Eva Le Gallienne performed here. Generations of Berkshire audiences made memories here. For 100 years, the Playhouse has been more than a theatre — it’s been the place where this community gathers.

THE NEXT CHAPTER

The Playhouse reimagined
Now, in partnership with the members of our community, we’re restoring the Playhouse’s stunning original architecture and reimagining what this gathering place can be for the next 100 years. Bold performances, living history, and a space that belongs to all of us — the Playhouse, built for the century ahead.

YOUR GIFT GOES TWICE AS FAR.

The Gilson Family Foundation has committed $250,000 to the Berkshire Playhouse campaign. An anonymous donor has matched that with another $250,000. Together they’ve created a half-million dollar challenge — and every dollar you give between now and August 31, 2026 will be matched in full.
