Melissa’s Choice, by playwright Steve Somkin and directed by Andrew Joffe, is presented as the second annual Multicultural BRIDGE benefit by this theatrical duo. Melissa’s Choice is about a lawyer who is passionate about women’s rights, the environment, population control, and two men. She has an unintended pregnancy that produces increasingly bizarre fantasies revealing her tangle of values and feelings. Former Senator Wendy Davis served as keynote at the debut full production in Texas in 2016.
Multicultural BRIDGE, an award-winning local minority and women-run social justice non-profit is located in the Berkshires and addresses cultural competency among diverse populations of social identities such as gender, race, and poverty. Multicultural BRIDGE is launching its tenth anniversary year with this Labor Day Weekend event. Join us for facilitated dialogue following this thought-provoking staged reading.
