Shoeless Joe at the Colonial!

On September 9th at 7pm, the Colonial Theatre will host the premiere of the highly anticipated play Shoeless Joe, based on the life of baseball legend Shoeless Joe Jackson.

A Renowned Cast

The cast includes equity actors such as Pittsfield native Barry Press.  Mr. Press with be joined by other renowned equity actors including Marc Carver and Brian Linden.  The performance will be in a polished stage reading format.

Music and Dancing

Shoeless Joe also features theme-based songs accompanied by dancers.

Admission is only $35 per person, and includes:

  • Two high-level afternoon panels on baseball and society
  • A 6:00 p.m. gold medal ceremony in honor of Berkshire County Baseball Greats who will be inducted into the newly formed New England Baseball Hall of Fame
  • 7:00 p.m. The fabulous production of Shoeless Joe (followed by Q&A with cast)!

New England Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Paul Procopio, legendary Pittsfield athlete, coach and educator, states, "September 9th will be a celebration of baseball, of Berkshire County, and the launching of a remarkable play.  This will be one of the great days ever in my home town of Pittsfield."

Congratulations on being selected for induction into the New England Baseball Hall of Fame.  What follows is information that will be helpful to you as we move toward the September 9th induction at the Colonial Theater.

The Pittsfield Suns to Host Berkshire County inductees on July 31st

The Pittsfield Suns will host the Berkshire County New England Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees on July 31st in a pre-game ceremony at 6:30pm.  The Suns play the Worcester Bravehearts at 7:00 p.m.

Please make sure to arrive at the ballpark by 6:00 p.m.  Inductee Paul Procopio and Brian Flagg, Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Suns, will be standing adjacent to the trailer at the ballpark to greet you.  At approximately 6:15 p.m., you will be escorted into the ballpark where you will be introduced at a pre-game ceremony.  All of our inductees who attend will be provided with free admission.  Anyone who accompanies you will purchase tickets.

September 9th Induction:  

A Great Day of Activities for Honorees, Family Members, Friends, and Fans of Theatre and Baseball

Schedule of Events:

2:00 p.m.:  Panel Discussion I.

3:15 p.m.:  Panel Discussion II.

Both panels will address various baseball issues.  The panelists, all high-profile, will be announced on or about August 15th.

The afternoon panel sessions have been planned so that honorees, and all ticket holders can enjoy an afternoon of baseball discussion and camaraderie.  Food, including sandwiches, soft drinks, and beer may be purchased throughout the entire afternoon and evening proceedings.  "That's A Wrap" will cater.

6:00 p.m.:  Honorees receive their gold medals in the Colonial Foyer, adjacent to the box office.

6:30 p.m.:  Honorees are escorted to the stage.

6:45 p.m.:  Master of ceremonies welcomes everyone.

6:50 p.m.:  A special video production, featuring one photo of each honoree, will be projected onto the large Colonial Theatre screen.  As the photos roll, they are accompanied by the song "A Parent's Message."  This will be a special part of the day.

6:55 p.m.:  Honorees are led off stage to their seats in the balcony.  Honorees will all sit together.  As they exit the stage and head up the aisles, each honoree will have a nerf ball, which can be thrown into the audience or handed to a friend.

7:00 p.m.:  The Shoeless Joe play begins!

Ticket Policy for September 9th

Honorees are provided with free admission to the entire program.  All others must purchase tickets, priced at $35.  We decided on a $35 ticket, which includes all activities commencing at 2:00 p.m. through the play, to provide easy access to friends, family members, and theater and baseball enthusiasts.

Each honoree is asked to provide one photo which will be projected on the big screen at the Colonial as part of the 6:50 p.m. on-stage presentation of honorees.
