Tony Award-winning powerhouse Idina Menzel takes the stage at The Colonial Theatre for the 2026 Berkshire Benefit Concert — a one-night-only event supporting two of Downtown Pittsfield’s most treasured cultural institutions: Barrington Stage Company and Berkshire Theatre Group.

From Broadway to the big screen, Menzel has built an extraordinary career as a singer, actress, songwriter, and philanthropist. Audiences around the world know her as the original ‘Maureen’ in Rent, the Tony Award-winning ‘Elphaba’ in Wicked, and the voice of ‘Elsa’ in Disney’s Frozen franchise — including the Oscar® and Grammy®-winning song “Let It Go.”

On this special evening in the Berkshires, Menzel will perform songs spanning her iconic Broadway career, selections from her solo recordings, and beloved favorites that have defined her journey as one of the most celebrated voices of her generation.

This annual benefit concert is a cornerstone cultural event in Downtown Pittsfield, bringing together community members, supporters, and arts lovers for an unforgettable night of live performance while raising critical funds to support the missions and programming of Barrington Stage Company and Berkshire Theatre Group.

About Idina Menzel

Idina Menzel is a Tony Award-winning singer, actress in film and television, songwriter, Broadway star, and philanthropist. She rose to prominence as ‘Maureen’ in Rent and won the Tony Award for her performance as ‘Elphaba’ in Wicked.

Menzel voices ‘Elsa’ in Disney’s Oscar®-winning Frozen, which grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide. “Let It Go” won the Academy Award® for Best Original Song and the Grammy® Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. She reprised her role in Frozen 2, which became the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

In 2023, she released her dance music project Drama Queen via BMG. In 2025, she returned to Broadway to star in Redwood, which she co-conceived with Tina Landau. Her 2022 Disney+ documentary, Which Way to the Stage?, follows her on a 16-show national tour culminating in her headlining performance at Madison Square Garden.

In 2010, Menzel co-founded the A BroaderWay Foundation, dedicated to empowering young artists from underserved communities.

The Berkshire Benefit Concert is an annual, one-night-only fundraising event that supports both Barrington Stage Company and Berkshire Theatre Group — two organizations that play a vital role in the cultural life of Downtown Pittsfield.

Proceeds from this event help sustain year-round programming, community engagement initiatives, educational opportunities, and live performance experiences that enrich audiences across the region.
