March: Spring has Sprung! Happimess at The Colonial Theatre

Best for ages 3-5 (although toddlers through age 7 are welcome!)
Each child is $10, parents are free. Includes complimentary coffee for parents.

Miss Rumphius10:00am-11:00am
We will read the book “Miss Rumphius” by Barbara Cooney. Then we will "make the world a better place" by creating our very own mixed media lupines! Pom poms, finger prints, tissue paper and colored paper will be combined to make beautiful spring art!

Developmental skills: Language Production. Shapes and color recognition. Gross motor skills. Textural differences. Cutting and tracing. Counting.

Literacy & Educational Skills: Phonics, Natural Vs. Unnatural, seasons. Chronological order.  Conflict. Inference, Critical thinking, Emotional Awareness.

Each child is $75 dollars for three-day session and includes materials.

Summer Craft AcademyTuesday June 27th -Day 1
We'll be learning about birds with the story "Stellaluna" by Janell Cannon then make a sweet nest of birds! Then we'll make felt and feather bird masks and practice being birds!

Wednesday June 28th - Day 2
We'll talk about the Water Cycle and read "Bringing the Rain to Kapati Plain" by Verna Aardema. Then we'll make our very own water cycle and "stained glass" raincloud.  

Summer Craft Academy 2Thursday June 29th Day 3
We'll read "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein and then create a beautiful tree with our hand and heart leaves and another tissue paper and pom pom tree.

Berkshire Theatre Group Announces Auditions for 
12th Annual Community Theatre Production

Pittsfield, MA–Berkshire Theatre Group seeks child and adult actors, musicians, backstage crew, technical support, usher staff and parent volunteers to participate in its upcoming Annual Community Theatre Production, directed by Travis G. Daly. The roles and positions are open to third graders, through adults.

Rehearsals for the Annual Community Theatre Production will begin on Tuesday, May 30th in Pittsfield, MA. This year’s production will be performing for four and a half weeks, from Thursday, July 6th through Sunday, August 6th at The Colonial Theatre, with a total of 37 performances. 


Audition times:

Sunday, February 5 from 11AM-2PM
Monday, February 6 from 6PM-9PM

All auditions will take place at:

The Colonial Theatre
111 South Street
Pittsfield, MA 01201

Student auditions will be held during the first two hours of each session and the last hour will be for adults. Adults should be prepared to sing only 16 bars of a song and bring the accompanying sheet music that is in the key in which they prefer to sing. Callbacks will take place as needed.

BTG Youth Advisory Board

As part of our ongoing efforts to support children's interest in the arts, we established the Youth Advisory Board in 2010. This Board which features high school students from across the county, meets periodically to discuss upcoming events, makes suggestions for artists of interest to young audiences and assists with activities at the theatres including distribution of information, creation of videos and social media networking.

BTG PLAYS! School Vacation and Summer Camps

BTG PLAYS! Summertime classes are offered during the summer vacation months and held at the Berkshire Theatre Festival campus in Stockbridge, MA, or The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA.  Each one week session culminates in a final performance.  Registration is required. Scholarships are available through the Richie duPont Award. Students must apply.
