
Communications Associate
Berkshire Theatre Group is seeking an experienced Communications Associate to assume press responsibilities and to assist the Marketing and PR Director with promoting a year round theatre company locally, regionally and nationally. Qualified candidates must have excellent media relations and possess exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment. At least 2 to 3 years experience in communications and/or public relations with proficiency in the use and implementation of social media campaigns is fundamental. A Bachelor’s degree in theatre or communications is preferred. Successful candidates will work well with a diverse group of people and be an integral part of a growing and exciting theatre company in the beautiful Berkshires. Job Responsibilities
- Create and distribute press releases through Main St. Mail and ensure all media lists are up to date and accurate
- Schedule all interview requests which may include coordinating transportation and or overseeing in person
- Create public relations pitches for distribution to major media
- Create and send press invitations, fulfill press ticket requests, create press kits and greet press at all events
- Gather and archive all press mentions and send to staff and board each week
- Write and edit copy for promotional and marketing materials
- Create content, monitor, update and interact with patrons on all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube and the BTG Blog.
- Coordinate and host photo and video calls
- oCoordinate transfer of photos/video
- oSelect, post to web and distribute photos for press
- oPhotograph, or shoot video of special events when needed
- Process all community donation requests
- Update all calendar/website listings for events and institutional listings
- Manage email Marketing through Main St. Mail including maintaining subscriber lists
- Poster and coordinate postering campaigns for events
- Execute subscription offers and subscriber mailings
- Assist with daily schedule and oversight of summer marketing interns
- Support all aspects of daily functions of marketing department

Assistant Technical Director
The Berkshire Theatre Group is seeking an experienced Assistant Technical Director to assist the Technical Director for the Colonial Theatre with a busy year round schedule. Good organizational, communication, and computer skills are essential. Qualified candidates will have 2 to 3 years experience in producing and presenting events, with strong knowledge in lighting, sound, projection, counterweight systems and rigging. Ability to draft in AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre is preferred. The Assistant Technical Director will report to the Technical Director to plan and implement technical elements for Colonial Theatre shows while supporting company wide programming. Responsibilities will include equipment/facility maintenance, crew supervision, budget management, show advance, etc. Successful candidate will posses excellent analytic and trouble shooting skills, and will work well with a diverse group of people in a fast paced environment. Flexible schedule includes day, evening and weekend events. Position is full time, 12 month with competitive salary and benefits. Position open until filled.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Technical Director to advance all stage uses.
- Maintain technical equipment and inventory.
- Assist artist’s and renter’s production staff during load-in, rehearsals, performances, load-outs and changeovers.
- Provide support to presented, produced, and rental events on all stages.
- Assist the Technical Director with overseeing the safe operation of stage systems, including supervision of paid staff, interns and volunteers in the safe use of rigging, electrics, soft goods, stage hardware, ladders, etc.
- Act as technical crew member as needed.
- Operate light board/sound board as needed.
- Assist the Technical Director with maintaining all technical paperwork such as light plot, section, magic sheet, lightwright, lineset schedule, and technical specifications.
- Maintain records and files relating to technical and event budgets.
- Oversee the daily maintenance of a clean, well-lighted environment for all areas, including FOH and dressing rooms.
- Set up special events.
- Plan and implement improvements to the technical capability of the spaces within budget.
- Assist the facility manager as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
